HBDC Student Officers share in the responsibility

of reserving Saturday Night room rentals

on campus and occassionally

a Monday Night room rental on campus.

On the Specific Saturday Nights

the Historical BDC club meets on campus,

club instructors may cancel 

their weekly lessons (off campus) at St. Alban's

and encourage students/community

to attend the HBDC campus events.

​

Off Campus Events are not funded or sponsored

by student clubs, but club members/student leaders

have traditionally helped in the production

of off campus events.

Prior to the Covid Closures some of the

12 HBDC Sponosred Saturday Night Theme Dances

during 2019-20 school year

had to be moved off campus (at last moment)

due to the (increased) high cost of campus rentals.

First Events were Winter & Spring 1998

Historical Dance Workshops/Theme Dances

focused on learning the Waltzes & Set Dances

from the English Regency period (Jane Austen)

Around 2002 HBDC moved most club events

to the UCLA Powell College Library 2nd Floor Rotunda

under the leadership of Librarian Catherine Brown

with the approval of head librarian Eleanor Mitchell

 

Starting with 3 Theme Dances at Powell Library

Historical Dances in the Powell Rotunda expanded to

12 Events per year and lasted

12 -13 years until the retirement of Libriarian Catherine Brown.
